Florence Winter Hill is a Writer-Director working in Comedy and Drama. She is passionate about making female-driven stories that are as beautiful as they are funny. Her film work has made the official selection of both BAFTA and Oscar qualifying films festivals worldwide.

Florence was selected as ‘one of the most talented filmmakers in the country’ by the National Film & Television School / British Film Institute at only age 16. She was brought on to direct the dark-comedy short film ‘Afterlife’, which not only went to international acclaimed film festivals, but Simon Pegg awarded her for Best Film at the INTO Film Awards.

Jumping straight into the filmmaking working world at 18, Florence worked on Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi as the VFX Production Assistant at the world renowned and Oscar-winning ILM. She currently works as a treatment designer for comedy directors such as Ben Taylor and Kate Herron (Sex Education) and as a freelance director.

Her shorts have been critiqued as 'witty, poignant, surreal and macabre' by Director Tom Hooper ('The Danish Girl', 'Les Miserables' and 'The Kings Speech'), and has also received praise from Rian Johnson ('Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi', 'Looper'), Duncan Jones ('Moon', 'Source Code'), writer Abi Morgan ('Suffragette', 'The Iron Lady' and 'Shame') and Christine Langan, Head of BBC Films.

Florence is currently developing a comedy TV series focussed on young creative women living in London with producer Giannina Rodriguez Rico.
